Description

Step-by-step guide to perform a material assessment on ORIS platform after exporting a project from Civil 3D or AutoCAD, and how to import back to the plugin the results from the material assessment.

Steps

1
Connexion of the plugin with ORIS platform
2
Go to the "Materials Intelligence" tab in the top menu, and then access the "Material assessment" tab on the left.
3
And then click on the "Edit" button.
4
At this step you can add additional information about the material assessment.
5
Once that you finish providing details of the project, click on "Next step".
6
In the second step, a Bill of Quantities (BoQ) is generated based on the volumes extracted from Civil 3D or AutoCAD and the selected pavement designs and materials.
7
The emission factors are default values from ORIS database of materials. You will get a warning If you manually modify them.

11
Click on "Next step" to evaluate the sourcing environment of the project.
12
You can apply different search radius to each material in order to find the closest production sites.
13
You can change the default truck parameters to customise your transportation analysis.
14
These are the default truck parameters used by ORIS.
15
You also have the option to filter the results by the type of production site.
16
Click on "Calculate" when you finish customising your search.
17
By default, ORIS selects the three closest production sites.
18
But you can modify this criteria by selecting the production sites that interest you the most, and unselecting those that do not.
19
This menu is available for each of the materials included in the BoQ.
20
After finishing your evaluation of the sourcing environment, click on "Go to dashboard" to see the results.
21
In the dashboard of results you can evaluate the three main Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Cost estimation, carbon emissions and material consumption for each material.
22
Video step
23
If you have selected more than one material supplier when evaluating your sourcing environment, then the transportation cost and carbon emissions will be expressed as a range of values.
24
Video step
25
The distance of the selected production sites to the project location is available on this graph.
26
Now go back to Civil 3D or AutoCAD and open your project. (You can also do if from ORIS 2D and 3D modules)
27
Video step
28
Click on "Import / Update Carbon" to import the results of the carbon assessment from the platform.
29
Video step
30
The carbon footprint will be shown here.
31
You can also import the production sites you selected when evaluating the sourcing environment in the material assessment.
32
Video step
33
Lastly, you can also access and edit your material assessment directly on ORIS platform from here.
34
To visualise the production sites imported from ORIS, make sure this option is ticked off and zoom out on your drawing.
35
Video step
36
More detailed information of the material supplier and the results from the transportation analysis are provided in the properties of the object.
37
Video step
38
When working with 3D solids, the results from the material assessment can be also found in the properties of the object.
39
Video step
40
The results will be shown for the selected project.
